"Are we cancelled already? The pilot didn't even air!"
Maybe it’s just me, but the sci/fantasy based TV shows on local television are frankly just dull. Besides Lost (which is in the final throes) and Fringe (which finally decided to get to the point), there is hardly anything to really be excited for if you don’t call your local cable provider.
Flash Forward isn’t terrible, but I’m watching it because really, what else is out there? V is disappointing so far. Dollhouse was rushed off the grand stage, even though it went out on a high note. Smallville should have been canceled, or completely overhauled 3-4 years ago, because it really hurts to watch it now. Tom Welling may actually get to fly – but only because he wants to hurl himself out a window at this point.
Wait, shhhhh… anyone else hear that? I can practically feel James’ astral projection punching me in the side of the head, screaming “Supernatural, Supernatural!” Sorry, I’m still back on Season 2 with most of its original audience… you know, when it was still boring. Deliver on the story earlier, or fall to the wayside. With the ratings so low, it’s a miracle that show hasn’t been canned yet. I do however, hope the creator actually ends the show this year like he says he will, so I can finally start watching it again.
Oh, and if anyone mentions Legend of the Seeker, I will shoot myself in the face. No joke.
Anyways, I’m just hoping that when the fall lineup of pilots for 2010 is announced, it can be more promising that now. With so many shows fizzling, there is usually a window in the spring to catch some disillusioned viewers like myself.
Case in point? I’m curious to see NBC’s Day One, which I shouldn’t count as a series; its a 2-hour movie that has the potential to become a series if NBC deems it has enough viewers. The show’s creator is Jesse Alexander, who was a producer on Lost, Alias and Heroes. Day One is about survivors gathering together after an alien attack.
